Here in Mooresburg we are still savouring the great memories of our Open Day. I can hardly believe that two weeks have already passed! Enormous thanks to all who were able to join us for the big day. Our little store was packed with lovely people and I am so touched that you chose to be here are share in the day. I was lucky enough to meet people that I have have known online for years. So many of you travelled across borders, camped, prepared and planned in order to join us. Your efforts and presence are so very appreciated, whether you came from just down the road or over an ocean. Thank you!

Since the Open Day two weeks ago, we have been working on a shop update, topping up any depleted colours and making lots more kits. The update is happening on…

Wednesday August 14th @ 2pm EDT!!!

There are some very special things in store for Wednesday’s update. I have to admit that I picked out most of my favourite things already, so this not the usual ‘I almost kept this’ but rather ‘ I have one of those too’!

Brit has been working overtime (though not literally) making mohair mini skeins for Ghostwood Mitten Kits, Watashi no Yume Sock Kits and a super rare and limited edition Snowdrift Shawl Kit…that’s a lot of mohair minis!

25g skeins of Mohair Lace intended for Watashi no Yume socks…there will be even more colours, but here’s just a taste…from left to right: Frozen Earth, Eclipse, Pollen, Moonrock & Faded Tomato

Sachiko Burgin’s Watashi no Yume Socks are my new obsession and can be knit with just 25g of our Mohair Lace, how handy! If the thought of lacy mohair socks seems crazy to you, just give them a chance. These socks are cozy, airy, beautiful and will be surprisingly durable knit in this mohair and silk blend. I’m planning a rainbow of them!

We also made up two kits with Kiyomi Burgin, and both will be stocked up in the shop on Wednesday. Ghostwood Mitten Kits use 1 skein of MCN Worsted (brought out of retirement for these kits only!) and 25g of Mohair Lace. The mittens are knit using both yarns held double and I’ve just finished up a pair in the Eclipse/Magniloa colour option shown below. The pattern is super clear, well written and easy to follow. In spite of this, I messed up many times and reckon I knit about six mittens before I got the right fit (totally user error) but the finished mitts are so worth that extra effort!

The second kit we created with Kiyomi is for her Apricite Sweater! Each kit includes Shadow DK & Mohair Lace, used in the original design (I’m wearing it below!) Kiyomi has added a couple of larger sizes to the pattern, and we will be offering kits for all sizes. Ever since I saw the original sketch of this design, I knew I was going to love it. The finished sweater is beautifully simple, elegant and so comfortable. Plus those buttons on the collar are perfect!

We also have a very limited amount of Snowdrift Shawl Kits using rare Eclipse skeins of Mohair Lace! Each of the seven stripe colours are completely one of a kind and I cannot wait to see how they knit up…We’ve chosen Silver Birch Polwarth & Alpaca and very light Moonrock Mohair Lace for the main colours in this kit. As always, adding more shades of mohair from your stash would be a great idea too!

Last, but not least on my list of kits are these sweet sock mini bundles. These are quickly becoming a favourite because they offer infinite options for colour use and placement. The same kit could be knit so many different ways, here’s what I came up with but what will you choose? Each bundle contains five Sock Mini skeins, at 20g each that adds up to one full skein of sock yarn…but perhaps even more fun…

We have just these four knitting sheaths remaining and these will be in Wednesday’s update too! My lovely and talented friend Hans Peter carved each of them by hand with his characteristic style and charm. Even though I mainly knit with circular needles, I often pause just to admire the skill and creativity that went into my own knitting sheath. There is something very special about good tools!

For your shopping and planning convenience, here is a list of the kits that will be available along with prices. As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions! All prices in CAD.
