a very fun weekend

Last weekend we hosted VIOLA’s first ever Winter Retreat. Hosting a knitting retreat had been on our minds for a long, long time. Years in fact. Whether through colours on yarn or the pages of Knits About Winter, VIOLA offerings are created with the intention of sharing the beauty that surrounds our home here in Mooresburg. Our intention for this retreat was to do the same; to offer a weekend of immersion into the winter landscape of our home as well as the creative process that turns inspiration into colour.

From dreaming to planning, preparing and finally sharing with you, the process of creating this retreat was lots of fun for us! We were most certainly scrambling at the last minute (we always are). However, we gained so much from the process of pausing to consider the aspects of our home and routines at work that we enjoy, learn from and are inspired by. This beautiful part of the world gives us so much to be thankful for and our daily work here at VIOLA is a dream, even with those stressful days in the mix.

We chose the weekend of February 6-9th because on those very same days two years ago, we waded out in the snow to shoot the photos in Knits About Winter. The samples were brand new, colours and ideas fresh and just coming together. The weather was chilly but perfect and made warming up by the fire all the more rewarding. Sharing the excitement and beauty of that time was the goal of this retreat offering.

As this was the first retreat that we have ever planned, offered or even taken part in, we think it is that little bit more special. After many months of organizing, learning, problem solving and dreaming our way through the preparations, guests arrived from near and far. We thank you for choosing to join us and for your trust in this offering. Your presence meant a lot.

Happy knitting everyone!
