Solstice & an Update 🌱

Tomorrow's update is almost here!!

In the last post, I shared many of the Shadow DK colours with you. Here's a preview of the other bases that are going to be in tomorrow's update...

Merino Lace will be making an appearance. It won't be back in stock for a while, so don't miss out if you've been craving this yarn!

Also back in stock after a long hiatus is Blue Faced Leicester 4 ply. It's an untreated (meaning no superwash treatment) 4 ply / fingering weight yarn. 100 % Blue Faced Leicester Wool spun into a bouncy 2 ply yarn with lustre and lovely stitch definition. This is a great workhorse, all-purpose yarn. Beautiful in garments, shawls and accessories, it's a heavier 4 ply weight, so could also be knit in some patterns calling for sport weight yarn.

There are lots and lots of adorable sock minis in tomorrow's update. I can't get over how cute they are, and have spent much of today trying to avoid the distraction of planning a new pair of socks...I picked out my colours already...

Brittany, the newest Viola team member, did most of the dyeing in tomorrow's update. In the past, I have been quite reluctant to share Viola responsibilities - being a bit of a control freak! At last, I have entrusted the colouring in of yarn to another person, and I am so grateful for Brittany and her many, many skills. She also keeps Viola organized, calmly solves problems and is just plain lovely to be around.

Here she is!

Here she is!

Naturally, each of us comes up with different versions of some colourways (on others, we're pretty darn close) The skeins of Down to the Wire minis above were dyed by me, and below are Brittany's...

I'm excited to work on some colourway refinement and recipe adjustments later on in the summertime (I've been talking about doing this for a loooong time), but for now, am enjoying the variety of colours each of us produces...and thinking about how nice they'd look in a striped sock...

If I get all of the update prep done in time, I'll be winding the yarn I picked out this morning for (another!) pair of favourite socks. I've chosen a selection of really subtle, soft shades that are reminding me of spring. Take a peek at Instagram if you'd like to see the colours I chose!

We've also got just a few options in sock yarn. Here's a colourway that is still 'under construction' - Peat. This isn't the colour I have in mind (yet) but I love how these skeins came out!

That's the preview for tomorrow. In case you missed it, the shop update will be live on Tuesday, March 20th @ 12pm Toronto time - right around the time of the Spring Equinox.

Happy Spring to all!
